Getting 120 classes ready for winter
In the highlands, winter arrives in October. Our teams are already delivering stoves, fuel and books so that classes can stay open until spring.

In the central highlands, the first snow usually falls in October. In past years, many of our community classes had to close for weeks at a time because the rooms were too cold for children to sit in.
This year we are preparing 120 classes in Bamyan, Daykundi and Ghor for the winter. Each class will receive a wood stove, enough fuel for five months, warm floor mats, and a new set of reading books for the term.
"When the room is warm, the children come. When it is cold, they stay home."

So far we have raised $31,250 of the $48,000 we need. Every $400 prepares one more class for the whole winter.
Deliveries started on 15 September and will continue until the roads close. We will share photos and an update from the field in November.
